James Turnbull

James Turnbull is an engineering leader, author, and open source developer. James is the CTO at Smartrr, an e-commerce company in the Shopify ecosystem. He was formerly the VP of Engineering at Timber (acquired by Datadog),CTO-in-residence at Microsoft, CTO/Founder at Empatico, and CTO at Kickstarter and in leadership roles at Docker, Venmo, and Puppet. James was chair of O'Reilly's Velocity conference, advises a number of startups, as well as writing and teaching.
